Southern Bank’s board chairman detained for murder
The police arrested the board chairman of Ho Chi Minh City-based Southern Bank on Monday on charges of “threatening to murder,” the local media reported yesterday.
Le Anh Kiet allegedly planned a murder scheme due to “internal conflicts within the bank,” Tuoi Tre newspaper quoted a police source as saying. He was transferred to Hanoi for investigation.
A representative of the Southern Bank told a press conference on Tuesday that Kiet’s arrest had nothing to do with the bank.
Established in 1993, the Southern Bank’s total properties are now worth over VND18 trillion (US$1.12 billion).
